Why Use Propane

Propane, also known as liquid petroleum gas (LPG), is odorless, non-toxic and is produced as a byproduct in the oil refining process. The distinct odor of propane (mercaptan) is added during refinement to allow sensory detection at concentrations that are below the lower flammability limit and much below the concentration needed for asphyxiation.

Why use propane? Propane is used by 60+ million Americans every day because compared to other sources of energy, the advantages of propane are tough to beat.

Clean – Propane is clean burning and non-toxic. Propane is also an approved, clean fuel listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 1992.

Safe – Propane has a remarkable safety record and at Longhorn Propane L.P., safety is our highest priority. All of our technicians are fully licensed by the state of Texas to service and install propane systems.

Reliable – Propane is there when you need it. Also, about 90 percent of all propane used in the United States is produced here!

Great Value – Propane burns hotter and more evenly than other fuels. On average, Propane costs about half as much per Btu as electricity. Propane appliances also have a shorter payback timeframe.
